Clearsense was recently featured in an analysis by Becker's Healthcare in "76% of CIOs Call Application Rationalization ‘Critical’: CHIME Survey" by Giles Bruce
Clearsense was recently featured in Becker's Healthcare, examining the growing urgency and persistent execution gap around application rationalization among health system CIOs.
The coverage highlighted survey findings from Clearsense and College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), revealing a clear disconnect between recognition and execution:
- 76% of CIOs say application rationalization is critical, yet only 1 in 5 organizations has an active program in place, and 20% have not started.
- More than a third of CIOs say application optimization is a major driver of cost savings.
- 40% review their application portfolio for consolidation only “as needed.”
- Governance is often informal, with decisions driven largely by IT leadership.
The findings reinforce a central theme: while rationalization is widely viewed as strategic, many organizations still lack the formal governance and structured programs needed to turn priority into measurable impact.
