Pandemic-related business disruptions and an uncertain global economy are causing healthcare delivery organization (HDO) CIOs to double down on operational efficiency and ROI through cost-cutting and containment initiatives such as legacy decommissioning.
- COVID-19 has further driven HDO CIOs to reevaluate their application portfolios’ agility and efficacy in light of interoperability and virtual care support, revealing new consolidation and decommissioning candidates in the acute and ambulatory spaces.
- The cost and complexity of migrating or archiving legacy data have caused HDO CIOs to keep outmoded and defunct systems in service well past their useful life spans, creating unnecessary hardware, software licensing, maintenance, and support overheads and constraining funding for innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
