Jr. Information Security Analyst

The Junior Information Security Analyst is responsible for supporting the Information Technology (IT) Security team in protecting computer assets by establishing and enforcing system access controls and endpoint security.

Role Description

  • Support the IT Security team in daily tasks which include but is not limited to prioritizing changing incidents, investigating, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain access by providing information, resources, and technical support
  • Ensure authorized access by investigating improper access, reporting violations and monitoring information requests by new programming
  • Process security requests ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information
  • Create concise and comprehensive reports related to security violations, including recommendations for addressing any identified control weaknesses
  • Methodically conduct system audits to verify compliance with adopted processes, policies, and standards
  • Be an advocate of security awareness, enjoy staying on top of cybersecurity trends, and incorporate best practices into your daily work
  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware
  • Respond to queries either in person or over the phone
  • Assist in writing policies and procedures
  • Ask questions to determine nature of a problem and walk users through problem-solving processes
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or through a ticketing system
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by users
  • Provide accurate information on IT products or services
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in tickets
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements to procedures
  • Perform other IT and security-related duties as needed


  • Previous experience with McAfee and other endpoint security solutions
  • Previous experience using a ticketing system like ManageEngine, Zendesk, JIRA
  • Be working towards your post-secondary degree or diploma in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security or related field
  • Security certification such a CompTIA Security+ is preferred
  • Have a keen interest in cybersecurity and have previous experience in IT desktop support
  • Enjoy a challenge when it comes to technical issues and be resourceful in the way you find a solution
  • Be an organized multi-tasker that thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Be quick to respond to requests for service
  • Innately demonstrate superior communication and presentation skills
  • Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, policies, and procedures
